All stirrup sizes 4.5”, 4.75” and 5” come with our high traction, ultra-low profile, non-aggressive aluminum treads. All wide tread standard sizes are offered an ‘optional traditional width’ tread. We highly suggest riding in the wide tread before purchasing the traditional width treads. All 4” and 4.25”stirrups come standard with our traditional width aluminum treads.

Combined with our ultra-low profile, high traction aluminum tread, the MDC ‘S’ Classic™ delivers improved stirrup and leg position, greater base of support, relieves pressure on ankles, knees, hips and back, is easily retrievable and safer in the event of a fall. Stirrup Sizing Chart
Stirrup measurements are taken from the inside branch of the stirrup across the top of the tread to the other inside branch.
It is reasonable to move up one size for your stirrup if the following conditions exist: your size is at the extreme end of the recommended chart, if you have wide feet, if you expect to wear boots that have a wider sole, if you are still growing or if you would just like to have an additional ¼ inch of space to improve stirrup retrieval or to enhance the opening during an emergency escape during a fall.
